Where are we going to?

Its 1.23am, early morning of the 1st day of Syawal, a date muslims world over celebrate for their act of abstinence from the nafs of their daily routine during Ramadhan, and their piety devotion to Allah s.w.t. As the norm has been for the past 17 years, I celebrate alone with emak only to be joined later by Emi and Din, if they are in town. The only major thing that is no longer part of the norm now, is that we no longer rush back to Melaka; we have not done so for the past 2-3 yearr.

The mornings of Syawal always bring mixed emotion of sadness and joy. For the pious, the sadness is mainly due at having to bade farewell to Ramadhan, while for the many, it is in remembrance of family members and close friends who are no longer around.

With emak already asleep, I thought I would like to reproduce an entry I made sometime back, one I previously would not admit to writing. But now the time of hide and seek is slowly but surely ebbing. Like a growing tree, it needs to shed the bark that protects for it to grow bigger. Further, with the availability of Imeem, I am now able to play the music and read the entry at the same time.

This entry which I dare not even call a poem, was marked as Part1, helped me then to influence and realign my political stance. Admittedly it is not perfect as it may have been intended not to be. But as it did me, I hope it will do the same for anyone reading it, insyAllah. PartII however, only Allah knows when it will be.

Theme From Mahagony Pt1

Do you know, where you're going to?
Dunia semakin tua. Pelbagai kekotoran meracuninya. Kemanakah arah tujuan kita?

Do you like the things that life is showing you?
Korupsi, maksiat, jenayah minda dan fizikal berluasa tanpa batasan. Adakah ini yang dinamakan kehidupan? Dan adakah ini kehidupan yang dicari?

Where are you going to?
Bukankah arah tujuan kita untuk kembali?

Do you know?
Tapi tahukah kita walau sekadar membaca kompas untuk mencari arah tujuan?

Do you get what you're hoping for?

When you look around you there's no open door.
Kesejahteraan abadi tiada lain jalannya melainkan Ad-Deen

What are you hoping for?

Do you know?

A friend, Adiemad, later added the hadith below:

Abu Hurayrah (radhiallahu anhu) narrated that the Messenger of Allah
(sallallahu alaihe wa-sallam) said: "Whoever believes in Allah and the
Last Day, let him say what is righteous or keep silent. Whoever believes
in Allah and the Last Day, let him be kind to his neighbor. And whoever
believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him be generous to his guest."

Assalamualaikkum,

Wassalam.

Salam bro shah 'ayeh' cakapaje;

First, finally you manage to put a song and article in the same entry. Didn't I tell you its easy.
That Diana Ross song brings back lots of memories( of that period).

Nice poem you have there.Yes you summed up everything about the life of Muslim Malays in Malaysia. We are a confused lot, right? We asked for petunjuk and hidayah from ALLAH but our actions are those that ALLAh prohibits us from doing.
We asked ALLAh for heaven but we ignore the sufferings of others. Some of us doesn't even know their neighbours. Some don't even know they have neighbours.

Alhamdulillah you found what you were looking for, make sure you will always be on the right path(sirotulmustaqim).

Bro, your mak and mine share the same namesake, HAWA.

Salam Doc,

Hmm...thank you, it was not that difficult at all. One of my fond memories about this song is that I use to be able to play part of it on the piano rather well. I say part, because there's another part which uses some 6 sharp chords and keys which is rather difficult for someone who is NOT an accomplised pianist :(

And Doc, like many others, I am still striving and have to fight hard to fight off relapses, if you know what I mean.

Our maks' name, no kidding? MasyAllah! We seem to be having more and more in common every day, that's nice.

When are you going back to Melaka? InsyAllah, this Thursday, I going back with emak, her younger sister and family. Normally when I do, the day belong to her and I am as always, he supir :) But it would be nice if we could catch up!

What guides our resolve? It is usually self. If we could shed that then we are heading in the right direction.

Senhor Lapa,

Ah! The old 'Gentleman Prefers Blonde'!

Thank you for dropping by.

Salam Lebaran Cikgu,

It is good to be a Godly man....but never a man that depends on God only.
It is good to embrace a religion with total commitments and sincerity...but never as one who will surrender everything...and call it "It's God's Will" to this or that.....that happens in his/her life. That will become a fanatic and illogical believer.
Religion to guide our ignorant and weak minds to clear paths and truths to be stronger and mindful of things in our living life.
All religions teachers good...never bad...but religions have become to so many branches due to Ismail and Issac..the sons of Abraham..until now....sad ...very very sad.
Until the day Palestine and Isreal can live like brothers ...which they really are.Until the day Judaism..Christianity and Islam become ONE...there will never be peace on Earth for these believers.
However....a small percentage of these followers are able to think straight and clear....and adapt themselves with practical and commonsense...these are the real good souls of both religions.
