With You I'm Born Again

It does not come even close; this rendition by a Philippine duet that is. The deep male voice of Billy Preston and haunting siren of Syreeta, struck deep into me when I first heard some 26 years ago in a place so far away from here.

With the passage of time, it too, was swept away like a flotsam in a swift flowing river of life. And all of a sudden, the song - this song - came rushing back into my mind, and with it, memories of the past.

No, this rendition does not even come close. But it is, the best amongst the choice made available at Imeem.

Lyrics.
Come bring me your softness
Comfort me through all this madness
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again

Come give me your sweetness
Now there's you, there is no weakness
Lying safe within your arms, I'm born again

I was half, not whole
In step with none
Reaching through this world
In need of one

Come show me your kindness
In your arms I know I'll find this
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again
Lying safe with you I'm born again

Come bring me your softness
Comfort me through all this madness
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again

Come give me your sweetness
Now there's you, there is no weakness
Lying safe within your arms, I'm born again
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again

I was half, not whole
In step with none
Reaching through this world
In need of one

Come show me your kindness
In your arms I know I'll find this
Woman, don't you know, with you I'm born again
Lying safe with you I'm born again

This song played here is a dedication.

I have no doubt that some may think it is to a particular woman. Though my heart longs for it to be so, sadly no, it is not. This song, is a dedication to November 10 - the day of reckoning for Malaysia. Perhaps, should I live pass this date, may Allah s.w.t. grant me that which my heart longs for.

You played this song over and over again when we shared the flat in Finsbury Park, 26 years ago, you schmuck!

But it does bring back quite a few memories, doesn't it. Thanks. BTW whats supposed to happen on November 10th?

Salam,

Haiya you ah! You got no read papers ah? Oops! Forgot you don't!

On November 10, there will be a peaceful Perhimpunan Rakyat in Dataran Merdeka. InsyAllah, it will be attended by over 100,000 Malaysian from all walks of life and beliefs.

From there, we will march to the Istana Negara, to hand a petition to the King requesting his intervention in the mayhem of political and administration brought by the ruling party.

That, and several more.

Oh, a SOPO/activist/change-the-world march, eh? Good luck and have fun, OK!

The way you put it, I thought the world was coming to an end on Nov 10th @_@

BTW are you on FACEBOOK?

Boe, I thought you should know me by now - the Don Quixote of Selangor :)

And no, I'm not on facebook. Initially I had wanted to go into one of those things, but soon, my alter-ego received too many invitations to too many of those things, I just give up! I mean, I cannot go joining each and every one of them, I'd go nuts! That is, if I'm not one already, thanks to you :)

One of my fav tunes too, bro'...

I don't want to potong stim, but something tell me the authorities would not take this sitting down. If nothing else it's a good time for a get-together in the form of showing displeasure to the Gov't...

I look at things in the long run bro', and I think the lower-income would be worse off at the impending price increase of petrol.. But the gomen, in their ineptitude, might be powerless to stave it off. This is what really worries me and the effect it has on the "small man". Then we really have a >100K problems on our hands.

Salam Matsalo!

Yo bro! Have been peeking at your blog daily in hope of something new there. Maybe you've been real busy there, what matter is that you're a ok, alhamdulillah.

Saw your comment at the interview, but I'll reply here if you don't mind.

Off course the gomen will not take kindly to out intention. But we have to ask ourselves: who is the gomen? In this case, it reads those keris brandishing lilliputians who will use the police as pawns to stifle the people's voice. We have gone endured far too long a nonsense from them - all we want right now is a fair election! In a research done quite recently, there 46% votes that went to the opposition! But how many seats did we get? A paltry 25 or so!

Those lilliputians used SPR to redelinate parliamentry and state seats to give them an advantage! Imagine, some opposition constituencies with some 20000 over voters, while their's may have as little as 5,000! That too, will cheating on the ballot boxes!

The fuel price is an interesting to be mentioned bro. Granted, it is outside our powers to control. But then, we do have the natural gas which several vehicles - mostly taxis - are using. The sad part is that the stations offering LPG sales are limited and mostly in the Klang Valley.

If the gomen is serious in wanting to handle the issue, why do they not make it mandatory for all Petronas Stations to sell LPG throughout Malaysia? The answers is not because they can't, but they either fail to realise this or there's something dastardly greedy about the whole matter.

Further, the petrol used here in Malaysia is Arab sweet or something like that. You should know this better being in the industry. No matter how much the petrol price goes up in the international market, Petronas still gain profit over the difference between our export and import!

This matter bro, is directly related to the people of Malaysia, especially for the lower income group! And it is due to this reason we have to stand up now before the situation spirals down out of control.

As it is, this coming election will be the dirtiest in our history as a supposedly democratic nation. Currently, there many foreigners - labourers - holding blue identity cards! And for what purpose would that be if not to be used as stooges to vote for the lilliputians!

I will be 45 not long now. I do want to get married and have kids of my own. But I would like them to grow up in a safe environment with a caring government, and not be intimidated for simply voicing their opinions!

Those not in the know may see us as traitors; we blame them not as their minds have been subjected to a lopsided view from day 1 they were born. Let Allah s.w.t. be our judge. For none is a better judge than He.

Come and join us bro! But off course, being there you can't! Then, pray for us bro. Pray for all muslims here in Malaysia. Pray for all Malaysians! :)

I love the video you had posted below your blog. Its clear that the NEP and all other initiatives had not solve the poverty of the Malays. We as Malaysians are sad to see the houses demolished by the authorities who said they cared for the Malays.

Hey there Maverick!

That's pretty nice of you to drop by, thank you.

The video is actually from BERSIH's website. And yes, I like it a whole lot too!

From your statement, I take it you'll be joining us then, great! Hope to see you there.

Btw, you have too many blogs for me to read. Thus, I've marked only 2. Cheers!
