Lost!

Don't you just love the TV series 'Lost!'. They keep building the characters and story leading you to a climax...which never come. Still, you hang on in hope of understanding the entire big picture although deep inside you know it is you who is lost! And it did not help matters when AXN shows each series at least twice a week, and then run the previous seasons, do a back-to-back thing...which does not really help you get your bearings. Then, all of a sudden, ntv7 started to run the series! Oh boy! You really do get lost in 'Lost'! Well, can't say much about everyone else, but I know I did.

It was like being stranded in the middle of a rain forest with your eyes blinded by your own sweat and your mind clouded by your fears of the unknown. So you stumble around hoping to get to a clearing if any, just to rest your tired body, but the sun shines it best at you and you are forced to get under the canopy again where unseen predators lurks...some in your mind, some real. Then the darkness of the night creeps in and there are no moon, no stars, to give you that little ray of hope of companion you need. Still, you fight to stay on the upper hand, to stay calm...to stay sane.

Fire! That's right! Light a fire! It will brighten the area and keep the nasty beasts away. Those in your mind, and those real ugly beasts just waiting to sink their not so razor sharp fangs into your measly flesh. Start a fire...and you unwittingly starts a forest fire! Run! Run! Run! But where? Which direction? Into a pool of water filled with months long hungry crocodiles?

The fire that was supposed to give you hope, is now your own undoing.../-

Haha! That folks, is a piece of stupid copywriting I just wrote for this lovely thing I just found! Kindly click here - its a Qiblat Direction for your pc. The map it use might be pretty old as I cannot even find the street I am in, but it ought to suffice. Amd while you are at it, thought this song might entertain you.

LA's fine, sunshine most of the time
The feeling is laid back
Palm trees grow and the rents are low
But you know I keep thinking about
Making my way back

Well, I'm New York City born and raised
But nowadays, I'm lost between two shores
LA's fine, but it ain't home
New York's home but it ain't mine no more

I am, I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
Not even the chair
I am, I cried
I am, said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why
Leavin' me lonely still

Did you ever read about a frog who dreamed of being a king
And then became one
Well, except for the names and a few other changes
If you talk about me, the story's the same one

But I got an emptiness deep inside
And I've tried but it won't let me go
And I'm not a man who likes to swear
But I've never cared for the sound of being alone

I am, I said
To no one there
And no one heard at all
NOT EVEN THE CHAIR!
I am, I cried
I am, said I
And I am lost, and I can't even say why

Leavin' me lonely still

I am, I said
I am, I cried
I am...

Classic shah again.. from 'Lost' to 'Qiblat' to Neil Diamond ...ha-ha.

Since there are not enough neurons in my blue-collared brain I chose to comment only on 'Lost'.

Like the rest of the world the producers conned us --the one that eventually gets lost is us. But it's a great story and keeps one caddicted. Fortunately I spend most of the time away from AXN and I was hoping to borrow past episodes from any of you guys. Hopefully a 'DVD9' copy as clear as Sor Hai's sexagenerian video... Ada nak pinjam ke..

You write damn good shah, and I know you do some freelance copywriting (freelance should not be equated with prostitution I know) but me thinks you should be with the big ad agencies to maximize your potential (the presence of waif thin models that grace the studios of those agencies should also be a consideration)...

Thanks for the Qiblat stuff..

Salam MS,

You are too kind in your words, but thank you :)

Tang DVD for 'Lost!', takdaklah. Honestly, if I can, I would certainly like to get 'lost' somewhere in Africa, have my body dismembered to a million pieces and spread all over the continent. Then truly, I'd be lost...nau'zubillah.

Who would want to take an old fart like me, no matter how creative or good I can be. The only consolation I had when I left the industry was when my Hongkie boss cried and regularly checked on my wellbeing after I left, and a local boss went into a rage of anger he directed to the whole office on the day I tendered my resignation letter. Apart from than...I am, an old fart.

Salam Shah:

"Lost' made me lost interest after season 2. My guess is this Abraham chap doesn't know how to end the story but at the same time he knew lots of ppl around the world will root to the series. So he and his team just made an episode at a time trying from this angle and thatto extend their run.

Now I couldn't be bothered about Lost. Its better to wait for Law and Order or the crazy selfish Dr House.

Thanks for the Qiblah indicator bro.

You know what? Just after coming back from Egypt, I bought the Essential Neil Diamond album, its a double CD album which contained his old songs. Before that I got Dylam's Essential too.

I'll be in KL 26-27th Jan.I'll sms you then.

Salam Shah,
Lama tak ke sini. Busy. Anyway, I got turn off by Lost after two episodes.. can't stomach continuous episode. You miss one episode and that's it. That's why I'm with our Doc TA, its Law and Order for me. Plus Without a Trace and the CSIs.
And I concur with Bro Mat, you write well la bro.

Wa'alaikumusalam Doc,

Wow! Doc, those essential albuns must be very good! And here I am, trying to find Longfellow Serenade on the net...boo me :)

Anyway, like I mentioned to bro MS, and now rephrasing a line from The Highlander: "This is a good day to die...". Except that we're muslims and jumping off a high cliff or tower is a no no. It would be good though, to be in Gaza now...

InsyAllah, I look forward to meeting you next week Doc.

Wa'alaikumusalam Pak Mior,

Alhamdulillah, thank you for your kind words.

Hmm...Without A Trace is good. The only part that does not make sense to me is that the FBI is called in within hours of a missing person. I would have thought there is at least a 24hours wait period before anyone can be reported missing. Other than that, yes, I do like the show. With the exception of Spooks, I have not been able to keep up with the rest now.

Lost, now thats one series that I don't watch. Come to think of it, there are many other series that I don't watch. Hmmm actually I watch very few, CSI Miami, Smallville (only recently, just downloaded crystal clear copies of season 6, not aired here yet) and of course my crazy Dr. House. I am thinking of looking for the Supernatural series, do you think its any good? What about Heroes?

I've told you already how well you write and our Mat Salo there is also one hell of a writer.

Salam Cikgu,

Of the shows you mentioned, perhaps only 'Heroes' season 2 is something I'd like to watch. Gave up on Supernatural for a long while now and don't fancy CSI not for any reason, but that too many people like it.

And thank you for your kind words, though you yourself are may be a better writer.

Shah minta laluan.

Che'gu:

Supernatural for season 1 and 2 is okay.hafiz downloaded the whole series(dia tak boleh tgk di hostel,so bila cuti meraban la dia).

As for CSI I only like CSI NY and thats bcoz I like Gary Sinese since his Appollo 13 days and the Forest Gump part as the OKU ex-soldier.

Shah: Without a trace is cool but have to agree about the less than 24 hour part, seemed funny.
