3 Times Bitten...

Was on the line with Doc TA earlier today and he asked about my trip to Terengganu. Told him it will only be next Friday (the 13th?), and only for the weekend. But then again, when I think about it, hmm...I might as well just not. Off course, that will not sit well with my cousin Azman, not to mention emak - we are supposed to go in 2 cars and rendezvous with many other cousins in KT. From there we are supposed to...what else, but that which Malays very much love to do - form a convoy to send a groom!

Now, don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against going for the wedding. Nor do I have anything against the state of Terengganu. In fact, I rate it as one of the best state to enjoy the sun. I mean, with miles and miles of white sandy beaches, the beautiful sound of ocean waves crashing on them, the nice friendly people...the east coast state is more like heaven compared to KL, with its agonising miles and miles of traffic snarls, the irritating sound of horns by impatient drivers trying to crash their way through, rude and high-strung people; yes, Terengganu must be where heaven is on earth. Except for...

Now, another reason why I have to make this trip, which outranks the wedding itself, is emak. No, its not because she'll beat me to a pulp if I don't, but...

Before her only brother passed away, emak had planned for a trip to Langkawi for she and her siblings. Somehow, she felt like it was going to be their last outing together, and they agreed to go, but the date was never finalised due to one reason or another. Time passed by too quickly. In mid December last year, emak's only brother passed away and with the sad turn of events, the trip was shelved for good - Langkawi was the only place in Malaysia aruah never had the chance to visit. Thus when emak mentioned about this trip, I gladly agreed to her request even though I now have this phobia not about the beaches, nor the nice friendly people there, but...

There is an old saying "Once bitten, twice shy". But being the knucklehead I am, I had to stretch it to 3 times. Hopefully there will not be a 4th time.

For some reasons which Allah s.w.t. only knows, going to Terengganu is like singing the song 'luka (luka) lama berdarah kembali'. Yes, it true - 3 failed affairs of the heart with those pretty lasses from the state of Terengganu. Hey! Its not like when I met these ladies for the first time, I asked which state they are from - it, just turned out that way. Though the fact that it turned out that way 3 times in a row, is something that puzzles me to this day. Hmm...must be a message there somwhere.

Back to the trip, perhaps what I can do is leave emak, her sister and my cousin in KT, while I drive on to KB. Sounds like a good idea, but I think not. Oh well, bring on the 4th!

Well, I guessed in life, everyone of us will experience all this bitten here, bitten there.
Well, you will never know, maybe this time around, if its not in TRG, if could be well in KB, you will never ever be bitten again. Have a nice trip.

Wa'alaikumusalam snowflake,

Aha! But you seem to have forgotten - I'm leaving on Friday, the 13th! Not a good sign, is it? Or perhaps, I should drive the other way to Klang. It is after all, by the sea too!

Salam Shah,
For the sake of your mother, just do it. Sad to say I wont be around when you reach KB after the 13th as I will be in the Federal Territory of Labuan from the 14th of June.
If you do come please enjoy your stay on the east coast. Please dont miss either one of these Islands of Redang, Lang Tengah or Perhentian. They will never be in its pristine state if you take another 10 years to go there. I will be on Redang from 18th August with most of my clan.

I was in Kelantan for 5 years and I tell you the chicks there are simply jambu lar. This time don't take too long. Propose after a proper introduction, no need for getting to know, just dive in.

Wa'alaikumusalam Pak Zawi,

InsyAllah, I will go because emak wants to. Unfortunately, I don't think we'll continue on to KB as most of the 'supirs' will have to work on Monday. But I think later after Raya, we might just...my emak's sister is craving for White House snacks!

Oh, do have a wonderful trip to Labuan, though it can be slightly on the sleepy side. And do have fun at Redang...I know I would :)

Salam Cikgu,

Oooh! Don't I know it! I have lots of friends there and previously had to travel quite regularly doing some work...KB can, be classified as Occupational Hazard to men! lol!

Don't worry about KB, KT or Kuantan on the way. When the Time comes, even if you run 100 miles and hour, it'll catch you, like it or not. But I'm pretty sure you'll like it.

Wa'alaikumusalam ydiana,

Hmm...even if I run 100mph? This thing must be dangerous already! For if I go at higher speed, then surely I'll take off like an aeroplane. But hey, that would be nice...flying up high. Then again, is that thing dangerous? lol! Just kidding ye :)

Salam Cak,
Goodness! what have my "countrywomen" done to you that your post has to end with Mr. Manilow sounding like a pungguk rindu ke bulang...Doh, doh retek lah tu, better look to the future, or the 4th one?

Don't worry about taking your Emak to Teganung on Friday the 13th, every friday is hari rezeki there, so who knows...

Oh, guess you know that orang Teganung berahi makang belang jjalang (nope, it has nothing to do with eating a walking zebra) so if you need any pointers, do let me know. Safe journey!

Wa'alaikumusalam bebee,

Makang belang kalang? Wak is dat? I Ganuspeak not learn proper yet :) Hmm...could that be the reason why? Must explore, hehe.

Anyway, would appreciate some pointers, a good night eating place to take my emak. Thanks :)

Salam my Bro:

Bitten 3 times? Ouch!!That sure hurts.

Vampires aside,Ganu is such a lovely place to unwind.
I always feel 'lazy' once I cross the Ganu border.

The atmosphere there is lazy too.Laidback.Just close your eyes while driving(I'm an expert on that..sleeping while driving) put some somooth jazz or several blues songs from Eric Clapton...

Salam kerpie,

All the pulaus are a no-no lah bro. Apart from limited time, the 2 emaks are not keen on a boat ride lasting more than 5 minutes, if you get my drift. But thanks anyway.

As for the matchmaking...after 3 times bitten, you got to be kidding me!

cakapaje said...

Wa'alaikumusalam Doc,

Uhuh! It was...ouch, alright! Hehe...

Huh? Ganu pun ada vampires ke? Hmm...are they the beautiful seductive types like lady ninjas? lol!

If it rains heavily along the way, yes, I might just pull aside and sleep it off. Hopefully not though.

Salam Princess,

InsyAllah. But you'll have to email me your address. Say, are you living somewhere near Tracy, SF? If you are, perhaps you can pick up from my sis there, or the other way around.
