Music Time!

No special occasion, nothing to celebrate, but just plain music time. Give that cakapaje guy a break will you? After all, he does does not listen to music everyday, except for what's on the radio when he drives.

Ramli Sarip to me is The Man as far as Malay rock is concerned and with Man Kidal on guitars, its complete.

That second one wasn't the ori number sung by Tina Turner?

Clapton, one of my favourite guitarists. I think this guitar is juat and extra limb.

Salam Cikgu,

You got that right, sir! Ramli Sarip and Man Kidal are 2 mean Malay rockers that you just got to love! Just imagine the chaos that would be if they join Clapton on stage :)

As for The Foreigner song, I've not known anyone else singing this number.

Salam Shah,

Selamat berhujung minggu. Sangat suka lagu Ramli Sarip tu. Lirik kebanyakannya puitis dan menyentuh aspek keesaan Tuhan.

Have a good day bro!

Wa'alaikumusalam WL,

Benar, benar. Selain dari muzik dan lirik, suara dia juga digemari. Adalah ala ala suara saya semalam dua selepas diserang demam :)

Salam Shah:

Ah..the good old time.

Ramli sariup is the greatest Malay rock icon. Not only his music but his personality too.You never heard anything controversial about him or Sweet Charity.

Kamelia.A piece penned by Ebiet G.Ade and made a rock number by SC and RS.
Did you know, the intro for Kamelia(Sweet Charity version) is taken from Dee Dee Bridgewater's version of Elton John's Sorry Seems to be the hardest word? Yes it is .I have the vinyl album of it.And that haunting bassline was played by Alphonso Johnson a 17 year old black bassist back in the late 70's.

And Kamelia came with 4 songs(Kamelia-Kamelia 4) by Ebiet G.Ade.
The one in Sweet Charity's is Kamelia 2. Try to get your hand for Kamelia-kamelia 4 and just listen to the beautiful story( cek Imeem ada kot).

EC- what can go wrong with his guitar works or singing? With his laidback style he is among the best non-black blues player.Another one is his old time friend John Mayyal. And another is JJ Cale( who wrote Cocaine which was also recorded by EC)

Wa'alaikumusalam Doc,

Hehe, trust you and Matsalo to be able to give a running commentary on rockers, jazz and blues. Both of you must have some good collections to be able to do so! While I too at one time did have such a collection, I gave up on them way back in 1986, Since then I have not even step foot into a music store, except for buying on instrumental CD in 2002. However, thanks, I will look up the other Kamelia songs.
