When people of certain senior age begin doing something uncharacteristic to their age or normal behaviour, the Malays would call it 'Buang Tabiat'. I don't know the actual English equivalent to "Buang Tabiat', so I guess 'Throw Habit' will have to do. Well, its not that I am about to do something or anything of such nature, but referring it to the clowns in our House of Parliament.
To be honest though, I have never watched any of the live telecast, nor do I bother to read about it. But reading a few blogs and glancing at the front pages of dailies, is enough for me to know I do not need nor want to continue reading. In fact, I've gone several weeks without really reading any news, with the exception of the links I have here. This is totally unlike of me, someone who was vigorously active on the Net for 6 years prior to PRU12. Its not that I'm fed up of politics, but I'm taking a long vacation from it. In some strange way and contrary to the actual meaning, I am 'buang tabiat'.
ps. Should anyone have links to a veteran Indonesian singer by the name of Ivon Nalakrisna, kindly inform me. Tried googling and you tubing her without success.

i think mid-life crisis sounds better if translated. but i dont mean you of course...heehehe...
*sorry bro, but didnt agree with you on the other side.
Salam Shah:
I don't think thats throwing habit laa...I think its just feeling feed-up with the sarkas-ing in the parlimen house whivh is giving many sitcoms a run for their money.
Ahh...Ibu Hetty Koes Endang is just wonderful.
I think 'losing it' could be used. Oh I love this song. I use to sing it at functions before except I would straight away start with Memang lidah tak bertulang......
Salam kerpie,
Midlife? Nor, I don't think that's the term or word for it. Zany, perhaps. But that goes across the age.
And bro, you don't have to be sorry about anything; your opinion is yours as mine is mine. So long as we don't start cursing or throw daggers at one another, lol!
Wa'alaikumusalam Doc,
True, that could be it.
And yes, Ibu Hetty is one of those rare gems. But I still cannot remember the original singer to this song.
Sala Cikgu,
Losing it? lol! I don't think so. Think I just need a longer break than I thought.
Ooooh....you were a crooner! Must get you with a mike one of these days. Bet you have sort of a husky voice.
Dear Bro Shah
Years ago, when a can of coke was still around 60 cents and Yang Berhormat was someone we really gave our respect, if anyone were to act in a very strange manner, we called it as "buang tabiat". And it means the guy gonna kick the bucket in no time.
This was simply because people, especially those in high places were very seldom acting the way they are acting today. So today, that "buang tabiat" thingy is really nothing and isnt a sign that someone gonna die anymore. Instead, what they represent would soon doom to become history. Now that 1000 promises are as high as the Kinabalu. In the end hopes shall become mere clouds.
Anyway nice kerocong song bro. Real classic. But i dont know that Indonesian singer you were asking for. But i sure know Benjamin S and his Abang Beca. :)
Shah,
Perhaps when you equate them to Mr. Bean the heartache is less. I have to keep watching all the prime things that happening around, not because I love them but because I am paying 28% of my salary every month to subsidize these antics.
Hopefully my little observations along with others will eventually keep them in check or contribute to their removal
Salam shirzad,
Bro, years ago when there was such a thing as a slim and OK looking cakapaje, many of the YBs lived as normal people. Today, with a not-so-slim and still OK looking cakapaje, many of the YBs live an abnormal lifestyle. Perhaps, were cakapaje to go slim again, then we would have better YBs than today ;)
Oh, who in our age group have not heard of Benjamin S and Abang Beca! Man...that song was a real hit back then. With regards to Ivon Nalakrisna, she was the golden voice of keroncong and we had several LPs of her. Had...that's the word, sadly.
Salam Dato',
A whooping 28%? Wowee! Then, you better keep your eyes on them alright. Maybe when I am taxed that amount, I can ask you for some tips how to manage it. Phew! Thought someone like me are having a tough time already ;)
salam ya akhi,
it's not throw habits kot... it's just tired of sumthing... getting fed up.. n it's absolutely normal..
:)
Pardon my ignorance...but I don't know what the song is getting at. Is it happy ending as it sounds, but the clip doesn't show. About someone mungkir janji but someone is still waiting perhaps?
Shah, you don't have to answer if I sound too perplexing.
And your "Ivon Nalakrisna" is not googleable. No offense, but I can't imagine, coz even Ydiana, a tiny meeny nobody can be found on google search. hi hi hih
Wa'alaikumusalam ya Muha,
Brother, perhaps it is...perhaps I'm just plain tired of life ;)
Salam ydiana,
Hehe...you have to watch the movie to understand the song. Pretty sad, and pretty old movie though. Don't think you can find it in any shops now.
Yes, I found out about ungogglable Ivon myself too. But I also found out a host of site under the name ydiana. Hmm...you wouldn't be the one from New Jersey (was it?) USA, would you?
Ha ha ha.. Itulah.. ingat nak buat copyright trademark... But the beauty of it, nobody will really know who you are. Who knows whether tha New Jersey lass is me or not? That for me to know and for you to find out.. ;)
Or... I may be your next door neighbour stalking on you..with binoculars on my neck...muahaha
ydiana,
lol! You don't need to spy on me - I'll leave the curtains open for you! ;)
muahahaha..
Btw, Minty kirim salam and welcome his new roomate.
ydiana,
Hehe. Kirim salam kat Minty semula ye.
Hehe .. Dia kirim salam balik. Meoooww... Ada kawan baru. Kambing bek bek. lol..merepek plak i tengah2 malam ni.
ydiana,
Merepek takpe, asal jangan mengembek ;)
Nanti beritahu Minty, dia kena jadi bantal peluk I tau...tetahu nanti, pepagi esok dia dah penyek, lol!
